The Council for the Study of Community Colleges (CSCC) is a project of the Center for the Study of Community Colleges, a non-profit 501(c)(3) research and policy center based in Los Angeles, California. The Center's mission is to improve community college effectiveness and student success by engaging in relevant and applicable research related to community college practice and policy.

CSCC, International Affairs Committee

The International Affairs Committee was established in April 2010 to promote global awareness among community college researchers, faculty, administrators and students. Our purpose is to support student and faculty programs abroad, to better connect Council for the Study of Community Colleges (CSCC) members to Fulbright exchange opportunities, and to help community college curricula become more globally focused. We are a committee of CSCC and we collaborate with and support efforts by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to accomplish these objectives.

ASHE is a scholarly society with about 1,300 members dedicated to higher education as a field of study. The Center, based at the Education Commission of the States in Denver, conducts research and analysis; serves as a clearinghouse for state officials, college leaders and the media on issues of community college policy at the state level; and organizes national, regional and state-level workshops around issues of community college policy.

Housed in the College of Education at the University of Missouri, the Center for Community College Research seeks to encourage, conduct, and disseminate research about the community college. Of particular interest to the Center is (1) the impact of national, state, and institutional credit-transfer systems upon community college students, (2) the effects of government and institutional policies on baccalaureate attainment through initial attendance at the community college, and (3) best practices facilitating community college students who wish to and do transfer to four-year colleges, particularly in the state of Missouri.

Community Colleges for International Development, Inc., (CCID)

A consortium of 22 member and 56 affiliate colleges representing 27 U.S. states, three Canadian provinces, Australia, UK, Denmark, and Japan. CCID colleges identify, develop, and expand mutually beneficial international programs, projects, and services. Through contracts and grants, CCID provides training and technical assistance in occupational, vocational, and technical education; opportunities for international study, exchange, and professional development for the students and faculty of partner colleges and institutions; and leadership and educational services in relevant disciplines and technologies.

Founded in 1968 the League serves as a catalyst, project incubator, and experimental laboratory for community colleges throughout the United States and Canada.

Minority Resources Center
The Minority Resources Center is the American Association of Community Colleges'(AACC) focal point for all issues relating to minority education in community colleges. Its principle roles include: projecting at every opportunity the importance of effective and sensitive minority education membership, working with other national associations and organizations to strengthen the voice of such efforts to federal managers and policy makers, and taking on action itself and encouraging new initiatives and program innovation throughout the national network of community colleges.

National Center for Postsecondary Research (NCPR)

NCPR was launched in October 2006 by the Community College Research Center (CCRC) at Teachers College, Columbia University, in collaboration with MDRC and the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia (UVA). Funded by a five-year grant from the Institute of Education Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education, NCPR is analyzing the effects of programs designed to help students make the transition to college and master basic skills needed to advance to a degree.

The National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition

The National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition has as its mission to support and advance efforts to improve student learning and transitions into and through higher education. We achieve this mission by providing opportunities for the exchange of practical, theory-based information and ideas through the convening of conferences, teleconferences, institutes, and workshops; publishing monographs, a peer-reviewed journal, an electronic newsletter, guides, and books; generating and supporting research and scholarship; hosting visiting scholars; and administering a web site and listservs.

Initiated in 1989, this Office operates within the College of Education of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Office is dedicated to research, development and technical assistance dealing with critical policy issues facing the community college system in the state of Illinois. Projects dealing with P16/student transition (e.g., tech prep, school-to-work transition) and workforce development are prominent. Funding for the Office comes primarily from state and federal agencies, and corporate and foundation support is secured for selected projects.
