Masters graduate must complete 12 semester hours in leadership and 3 hours of experiential education. Courses are offered at night and on weekends with doctoral cohorts formed every few years. National-Louis University Community College Leadership Doctoral Program 122 S. Michigan Avenue Chicago, Illinois 60603 312-261-3534 http://www.nl.edu/academics/ccl/ Program Emphasis: The National-Louis University Community College Leadership (CCL) Doctoral program prepares key leaders to face the unique challenges found in community college settings. The CCL program is designed to allow doctoral students to continue meeting family and work responsibilities. The 65 credit program is three years in length including an integrated dissertation process. Students participate in regularly scheduled class sessions; day and time designed to meet the needs of each cohort and two summer sessions (two weeks each summer). Guided study over the Internet supports coursework. The CCL Program admits each fall and seeks a diverse cohort of approximately 15-20 learners. The program emphasizes theory, research, and practice pertinent to contemporary community college leadership, and graduates of this program assume positions of leadership from the presidency to the dean. Students interested in full-time Ph.D.studies on campus at UIUC can also enroll in the Higher Education program in the Department of EOL, with a specialization in CCL. In addition to programs having an administrative focus, students interested in professional developmment opportunities for community college faculty can enroll in the Community College Teaching and Learning (CCTL) Online program, offered by the Human Resource Education Department. The program offers further training for community college professionals, as well as master‚s and doctoral students whose research interests are related to community colleges. A new program, which will be in place in 2007, will offer weekend courses toward an MA in community college teaching, learning, and leading for faculty and junior administrators who seek advanced administrative training. The Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration prepares individuals interested in teaching and research positions in community colleges and four-year colleges and universities. In addition, individuals who intend to pursue state and national policy positions are enrolled in both the Ed.D. and the Ph.D. programs, depending upon their areas of interest. Higher education courses are offered on the main USF-Tampa campus or at off-campus sites in Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater. All classes are held in the evenings or on Saturdays, year round. This curriculum is focused on the effective design and implementation of quality instruction, contemporary instructional technology, and innovations such as peer-based collaboration and active learning structure.
